CNN star caught sharing lie about Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show

CNN's chief national security analyst has been caught peddling a false claim about Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show.  Primetime anchor Jim Sciutto, 55, shared an X post from liberal activist Ed Krassenstein that claimed a young boy gifted a Grammy during the performance was the same five-year-old detained by ICE agents in Minneapolis last month. As it turned out, the little boy on-stage was not five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos, but California-based child actor Lincoln Fox.The rumor, however, quickly gained traction on social media, ensnaring Sciutto in the process. The anchor went on to delete the post, but not before it was hit with an embarrassing Community Note.Conservative X account Western Lensman was able to capture the slip-up amid an outpour of complaints about the headliner's recently stated political views and the concert's celebration of Latin culture.Sciutto, a former political appointee of President Barack Obama, was one of many viewers to jump on the baseless theory that the child was Ramos, and that the move was a subtle dig at Trump's aggressive deportation policies.Ramos and his father, Adrian Conejo, were detained by federal immigration agents on January 20 in their Minneapolis driveway. Both were sent to a Texas facility intended to hold families with minors. CNN mainstay Jim Sciutto, seen here recently on The Source, shared a false post from a liberal activist about about Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday The un-fact-checked post, from progressive social media commentator Ed Krassenstein, claimed a young boy that was gifted a Grammy by the artist during the performance was the same  five-year-old detained by ICE agents in Minneapolis last monthThe boy has since become a symbol of Trump's immigration crackdown, which Bad Bunny criticized at last week's Grammys. The Puerto Rican singer told stars gathered in the crowded auditorium: 'ICE out… we're not savage We're not animals. We're not aliens. We are humans. And we are Americans.'His performance Sunday mostly steered clear of politics but was suffused with strong statements about Latinos and immigrants and symbolism that appeared to fuel the false claim. It fooled several other unverified X users before the site's community notes feature, which adds context from readers, was appended to the post.A tweet from Huffington Post reporter Philip Lewis was one of many to put it to bed beforehand.Sources told TMZ there was no political intent behind the artist's gesture - just that it was meant to inspire children.A seemingly over-eager Sciutto - now 13 years into his CNN stint - did not address the flub. The Daily Mail has contacted CNN for comment.
