Speed skater Valérie Maltais won Canada's first medal of these Games in the 3,000-metre final in Milan — a bronze.The women's ice hockey team later dominated Switzerland in a 4-0 win.Canadians Abigail Strate and Nicole Maurer missed chances at the podium in women's normal hill ski jumping in Predazzo.
