No deadline day move for Northern Ireland international: ‘He’s not going anywhere’
Promotion chasing Wrexham were keen to sign the 22-year-old but the Fratton Park club are intent on keeping Devlin in their bid to steer clear of relegation this season with Mousinho insisting he will be playing for Portsmouth against Ipswich on Tuesday night.Devlin is enjoying an impressive campaign and has become a hugely popular figure with Portsmouth fans who will be delighted he is staying. The move by Wrexham, who are owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, was designed to strengthen their squad in their quest to make it to the Premier League.Currently the Welsh outfit are in sixth place in the Championship and in with a serious chance of making the play-offs which is in contrast to Portsmouth who are fifth bottom in the middle of a relegation battle. It shows there is interest in Devlin, who is contracted to Portsmouth until 2028, and that is likely to increase in the summer.Quoted in the Portsmouth News, Mousinho said: “Terry’s not going anywhere, he will play for us tomorrow night (against Ipswich).“As far as I’m concerned there hasn’t been a bid. If there has been any interest, it has never been serious enough to come across my desk. There may have been some enquiries, but I don’t get bothered by that, quite rightly.Northern Ireland's Terry Devlin“I have been told we’ve got Terry for tomorrow night, which means he’s staying.“We don’t need to sell players, that’s one of the benefits of the football club and the way the owners are.“I know there’s a debate about anything we want in terms of finances and the club structure and where we are trying to go. But the onus, at the moment, is to try to build as best as we can and try to develop assets.“There might come a time where we have to sell players, which is absolutely fine, but there’s no financial pressure for us to sell. We are only going to sell if it’s the right move for the player, if it's the right move for the football club.”Terry Devlin during his time with GlentoranDevlin, who made his Northern Ireland senior debut last year, shone for Dungannon Swifts and Glentoran in the Irish League before moving to Portsmouth in 2023.He has proved to be an astute signing for the south coast outfit helping them win promotion to the Championship from League One and performing well in a number of positions from right back to midfield.Should Devlin move in the future, Glentoran will receive a slice of the transfer having included a lucrative sell on fee percentage in the deal that took him from the Oval to Fratton Park.
