Infant boy rushed to hospital with serious injuries after horror dog attack in Kilkenny

An infant boy has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by a dog in Co Kilkenny.The young child was attacked by the dog at a home in Callan at around 3pm this afternoon. Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene while two dogs, which were involved in the incident, were removed from the scene.The child was taken to Crumlin Children's Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries that are being described as non-life-threatening. Arrangements have been made with local veterinary services to euthanise the dogs in this case.Gardai say the incident is under investigation.A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to an incident involving two dogs that occurred at a residential property in Callan, Co. Kilkenny at approximately 3:00pm this afternoon, Wednesday 28th January 2026."An infant boy sustained serious injuries following this incident and is receiving treatment at Children's Health Ireland, Crumlin.
