Dead Pony
Dead Pony have just released their new single ‘Eat My Dust!’ which is out now via ADA. We caught up with guitarist and programmer Blair from the band to chat about the single before they start preparing for their appearances at Slam Dunk and All Points East this year.
itm?: The single seems to have taken a big turn into an even heavier sound for you guys, from the insane riff to Anna’s screaming. What’s the inspiration for the song and what do you think has made it so intense? Is there anyone in particular in the firing line when you’re singing it?
DP: We have always wanted to push the band in a heavier direction because that’s when we have the most fun. We went through a lot of personal growth in 2025 and had things happening behind the scenes that were quite stressful for us. Instead of letting that stuff get in our way, we bottled the angst and locked ourselves in the studio, channeling that energy is what created ‘Eat My Dust!’.
itm?: We recently caught you supporting Kids In Glass Houses on their Dirt tour, where we heard the track for the first time. How do you feel your fans are reacting to the track live and do you look forward to playing it in the big rooms, or small sweat boxes more?
DP: So far we have only played the song live in big rooms on support tours where most of the fans aren’t there to see us. The reaction we have had to do it today – release day – is blowing my mind. I can’t wait to get into a small sweaty venue now and see the place erupt when we play it.
itm?: In the video, there’s some great 2-Stepping going on. Are you lot really hardcore kids at heart? Where did you pull your influences from when working the track out?
DP: I wouldn’t say we are “hardcore” kids, we are fans of some hardcore but we are more Nu Metal kids. I guess Anna is just a nu metal kid who likes to 2 step. Anna was actually intending to come up with a cool dance routine for that song but because it’s so fast and frantic that’s all she could find to do that felt like a good vibe.
itm?: Aside from the single, we’ve seen you tour with Chvrches, Funeral for a Friend, Kids in Glass Houses, Kid Kapitchi, and The Blackout (to name but a very few) which is a crazy eclectic mix. Who else is on your bucket list to tour with?
DP: We have ticked off a bunch of bucket listers already and there is loads that I could name but two that stick out to me right now that I would really love to do shows with are Linkin Park and The Prodigy.

Been drowning in music since the local CD pirate accidentally dropped off a copy of Green Day's Insomniac. Touring days are behind him but still likes to talk as if he's part of it. Known to take the occasional photo. Will talk to you about his dog.Catching Light Photography Latest posts by Craig McConnell (see all)
