Ulster GAA Welcomes Sports Volunteers to Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup Final - Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Uladh
Ulster GAA was delighted to welcome a group of sports volunteers from Ulster Rugby and the Irish FA to O’Neill’s Healy Park, Omagh, as they experienced volunteering at a GAA match during the Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup Final.
The volunteers took part as part of the Multi-Sports Volunteering Opportunities programme, delivered through the Department for Communities (DfC) partnership between Ulster GAA, Ulster Rugby and the Irish FA – A Home for Lifelong Volunteering. This initiative provides volunteers from all three sporting organisations with the opportunity to learn from one another and gain first-hand experience of volunteering across different sports.
On the day, the volunteers played a key role in supporting matchday operations, assisting gate staff with ticket scanning and welcoming Donegal and Monaghan supporters to the ground. Their contribution helped ensure the safe and smooth entry of spectators, adding to the positive matchday experience for all in attendance.
Ulster GAA President Michael Geoghegan expressed his appreciation for the volunteers’ involvement at the final.
“We are delighted that our DfC partnership with Ulster Rugby and the Irish FA continues to offer many opportunities for shared learning and to showcase each of our games to volunteers from other sports. We are very grateful for the assistance provided by these volunteers and I hope they enjoyed their experience at the Bank of Ireland McKenna Cup Final.”
Ulster GAA extends its thanks to all volunteers involved and looks forward to continuing this collaborative approach to volunteering across sport.
