5 amazing wedding cake makers in Ireland
When it comes to wedding planning, it is all too easy to become overwhelmed by the ever-growing to-do list. To take just a small bit of research off your plate, we've found five of the most talented wedding cake makers in Ireland, who are bound to make your special day all the more delicious.
Creative Cakes
Michael and Aleksandra Coady have created a gourmet cake haven in their Dublin 15-based bakery. While Michael has studied advanced culinary arts in pastry, and worked in prestigious restaurants such as Chapter One, One Pico, and L'Ecrivain, Aleksandra is known for her incredible recipes and bespoke designs. Choose from their jaw-dropping designs or have something completely unique made for your big day.
SD Cakes
Cake maker Saima Hebel has been fascinated by beautiful things since childhood, whether they be exotic flowers or intricate Henna designs. While working in a Cork bakery in 2010, she discovered her talent for decorating cakes and began creating delicious works of art. Once she had her Diploma in Cake Decorating under her belt, she founded SD Cakes in Co Laois, where she has been making stunning wedding cakes, often covered in beautiful florals and buttercream designs.
The Fox & The Flour
The Fat Fox café first opened its doors in 2016 on a quiet side street in Dublin 8. Fast forward a few years, and the business grew into a coffee roastery, café, and drive-thru based in Delgany and Greystones. This entrepreneurial nature eventually led to The Fox & The Flour, a small bakery where "creativity meets craftsmanship". Every cake is designed, baked and finished on site by a team who are passionate about unique flavours and artistic piping.
Broken Spoon
Tara Menzies always loved baking as a hobby, but it wasn't until making her daughter's christening cake that she realised she wanted to make a career out of her sugar-filled skills. After completing a Master's Diploma in Cake Decorating, she spent many hours teaching herself new techniques and, eventually, Broken Spoon Cakes was born. The baker made headlines last year when she made the centrepiece creation for Derry Girls star Saoirse Monica Jackson's wedding. Although the business is based in Mallow, Co Cork, they deliver nationwide.
Pastel by Rachel
Based in Colerain in Northern Ireland, Rachel Hemphill has been creating whimsical cakes that look too perfect to eat since 2019. As well as specialising in luxury wedding cakes and bespoke celebration cakes, the head baker has recently earned her masters in Marketing with distinction from Queen's University Belfast. If you love retro, vintage or delicate wildflower wedding cakes, Pastel by Rachel should be your first stop.
