Fernandes' X account hacked with post criticising INEOS
Manchester United have said captain Bruno Fernandes' X account was hacked after a string of posts, including one critical of the club’s co-owners.
Hours after the 2-1 FA Cup third-round exit at the hands of Brighton, now-deleted posts appeared on his account, with one calling for the removal of the club’s minority owners INEOS.
In a flurry of messages, the account tagged the England cricket team, YouTuber KSI, adult star Bonnie Blue and world darts champion Luke Littler.
In a post about launching a cryptocurrency, the account added: "This is why I need to get paid more" and also stated "Man United are in the dumps".
The Portuguese playmaker is not a frequent user of the social media platform, with his most recent post before tonight coming in October, celebrating his 300th appearance for the club.
Manchester United’s account confirmed the hack, posting on their own feed: "Bruno Fernandes’s X account has been hacked.
"Supporters should not engage with any of the posts or direct messages."
