The average Brit has HOW many sex toys?

Sex toys come in all shapes and sizes, but just how many of them do we really need?
Well, the obvious answer is that we don’t need any of them, but that hasn’t stopped Brits from stocking up on vibrators, dildos, butt plugs, and c*ck rings.
And according to one sex toy manufacturer, the number of sex toys the average Brit owns might surprise you.
A survey by Rocks Off revealed that 47.4% of people own between seven and nine sex toys, while 10.5% own 10 or more.
But what might surprise you the most is that another 10.5% admitted to owning more than 20…

Of these toys, the butt plug was found to be the most popular choice, with more than 47% of those asked proclaiming it as their ‘favourite sex toy’.
This was closely followed by Clit Suckers, c*ck rings, and vibrators.
The most common reason people shared for using these toys was that they ‘help them climax’ (57.9%), while others felt the toys ‘add variety’ and some said they ‘keep their sex life alive’.

Interestingly, 15.8% also admitted to using them because they are ‘lazy’.
As for how often all these toys are being used, the vast majority of people are whipping them out at least once a week, but some like to use them daily.
Why do people need 20 different sex toys?
Now, if you’re still sitting there wondering why someone might own 20+ sex toys, we asked an expert to shed some light.
Annabelle Knight, the sex and relationship expert for Lovehoney, believes that one toy can’t meet every mood, desire, or need.
She tells Metro: ‘Pleasure is varied, personal and ever-changing. People often build a collection over time as they learn more about what they enjoy, just as they might with skincare, fitness equipment, or even lingerie.
‘Different toys offer different sensations, intensities, and experiences. Having options allows people to choose what feels right in the moment.’
It’s this point where we remind you that you don’t need to go and buy multiple toys; there’s nothing wrong with having just the one or none at all, and it’s not overly surprising that a sex toy company would be pushing for you to get more… it’s kind of their whole raison d’être.

However, if you are keen to start building more of a collection, Annabelle says the key thing to remember is ‘versatility’.

‘A good collection doesn’t need to be large – it just needs to be versatile,’ she explains.
‘A few thoughtfully chosen essentials allow people to explore different sensations and moods without feeling overwhelmed.’
As for her ‘ideal selection’, it would include:
A reliable external stimulation toy for ‘easy, accessible pleasure’.
A suction or air-pulse toy, as they deliver a ‘completely different experience’ to traditional vibration.
A couple’s toy for shared pleasure with your partner, to encourage communication, connection, and playfulness between you both.
A good quality lubricant, which she says is an ‘essential’ for comfort, enjoyment, and making toys feel even better.
And finally a playful or fantasy-led item, to add a little ‘imagination’ and ‘curiousity’ in a pressure-free way.
Annabelle adds: ‘Together, these essentials create a collection that supports self-discovery, giving people options to choose what feels right in the moment and helping pleasure feel relaxed, personal, and positive.’
