Women in Finance Charter to get more funding from Govt

An initiative aimed at increasing the proportion of women at senior levels in finance has received further funding from the Department of Finance. Ireland's Women in Finance Charter, which was initially established for a three-year pilot period from 2022 to 2025, has been granted €50,000 to continue its research, as announced by the office of Minister of State with responsibility for Financial Services Robert Troy. The charter seeks to improve female representation in financial services firms operating in Ireland. The signatories of the charter, which now number 104 companies, commit to setting targets for increased female representation. Among the companies involved are Banking and Payments Federation Ireland, Financial Services Ireland, Insurance Ireland, and Irish Funds. According to the charter’s latest annual report, female representation at senior levels of signatory firms has improved since its inception: to 43.4% from 36.2% at senior management level, to 36.3% from 30.3% at board level, and to 22.6% from 19.4% at CEO level. According to the director of Financial Services Ireland, one of the signatory companies, Patricia Callan "Ireland’s emergence as a global financial centre has dovetailed with the country developing as an inclusive and diverse place to build a career" and initiatives like Women in Finance Charter "have played an important role in that progress."
