Tragedy as woman found dead at Greater Manchester railway station

A woman was tragically found dead at a railway station in Wigan. Officers and paramedics were called out to Bryn railway station, in Ashton-in-Makerfield, at around 6pm on Friday evening (December 19).British Transport Police says a woman in her 30s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. "The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner," a force spokesperson added.Councillor Danny Fletcher, who represents Ashton-in-Makerfield on Wigan council, posted about the incident on Facebook on Friday night. He wrote: "British Transport Police are working on the case, whilst liaising with GMP. The station will reopen as soon as possible. The council will support in anyway it can."Sending all my love to the person involved, and their family and friends. Give your families an extra tight hug tonight."Railway lines were closed between Wigan North Western and Liverpool Lime Street while emergency services worked at the scene.
