Central Bank: housing will only reach 50% of Govt target
The Central Bank has said it expects the Government to fail to meet its target for new homes by 2030 – and predicts that only 155,000 homes, or just over 50% of the 300,000 completions planned, would be built.
The regulator’s its latest quarterly bulletin predicts that housing completions would reach 33,500 this year before rising to 37,000, 40,500 and 44,500 in 2026, 2027 and 2028 respectively – a total of 155,000 homes which falls far short of the target set to tackle the housing crisis.
