Cole Palmer is expected to be fit for Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Everton this afternoon.
The England international’s season was derailed by a groin problem with a freak toe injury further delaying his return to the side.
Palmer was introduced off the bench away to Leeds last week, starting at Bournemouth last Saturday as he got more precious minutes under his belt.
The former Manchester City star did not train earlier this week and did not travel for the Champions League game against Atalanta. But that decision was one made with Palmer’s long-term fitness in mind,rather than a fresh problem.
Palmer returned to training on Thursday and will be available today – although Maresca did note he finished that session with a ‘mixed feeling’.

Elsewhere, Wesley Fofana was rested in Bergamo midweek but after coming off the bench at half-time, recived a boot to the face for his trouble. Gianluca Scamacca’s studs made contact with the Frenchman’s eye but Maresca confirmed on Friday he is ‘completely fine’.
Trevoh Chalobah and Enzo Fernandez meanwhile are both fit and available after coming off against Atalanta.

Reece James played the full 90 minutes on Tuesday and a second start in a week seems unlikely as the Blues continue to manage his minutes.
Moises Caicedo remains suspended but will available for Premier League duty once again next week against Newcastle United.
Liam Delap is facing another spell on the sidelines as a result of the shoulder injury suffered at the Vitaliity Stadium last week. Joao Pedro, without a goal in his last five games, is expected to lead the line although Marc Guiu is also an option.

Maresca has a big decision to make over his captain James but history would suggest he won’t be risked having played the full 90 minutes in Italy midweek.
Andrey Santos is ready and available to step in and fill in with Caicedo still suspended.
