Oscar set to retire at 34 with former Chelsea star suffering from heart problem

Oscar played for Chelsea from 2012 to 2017 and was a fan-favourite before he was sold to Chinese club Shanghai Port for around £60m. The attacking midfielder played his final game for Shanghai Port in December 2024 as he moved back to his boyhood club Sao Paulo. Oscar signed a three-year deal with Sao Paulo but according to ESPN in Brazil, the Brazilian is now expected to end his career in 2025. The player suddenly collapsed during a Sao Paulo training session in November and spent five days in hospital after the incident. Oscar was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope, a transient loss of consciousness caused by a decrease in blood pressure and heart rate. He is now set to hang up his boots and it is believed that Sao Paulo are considering offering him a new non-playing role to stay at the club.
