It refers to a variant known as A(H3N2), or subclade K. Experts have warned this is a 'drifted' flu variant, meaning it has minor genetic changes compared to previous years. The main symptoms are not significantly different from a regular flu; a sudden high temperature, body aches, feeling tired or exhausted, a dry cough, sore throat, headache, difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite, diarrhoea or stomach pain, and feeling or being sick.The subclade K is actually the same H3N2 virus that has been circulating among humans since 1968, but with some mutations in its genes. While different, it is not necessarily more dangerous.
