Denmark's November statistics show three in four new cars were electric
Such high registration figures for electric vehicles are typically only seen in Norway, where the share of electric vehicles in new registrations now regularly exceeds 95 per cent. However, Denmark is also experiencing a rapid and significant increase in the market share of battery-electric cars. Overall, passenger car sales in Denmark rose by 6.6 per cent across all drive types in November, reaching 15,910 new registrations. Three out of four new cars were electric, and in the private customer segment, this figure rose to nine out of ten. This allowed electric vehicles to further expand their already strong market share, which has characterised the whole of 2025, and now accounts for 67.2 per cent of all new registrations in Denmark this year, according to data aggregator bilstatistik.dk.Topping the model rankings in Denmark last month was the Škoda Elroq with 1,102 new registrations, followed by the VW ID.4 (856), Audi Q4 e-tron (543), and Škoda Enyaq iV (528). All of these are models from the Volkswagen Group. In fifth place, the statistics were led by the Renault R5 (372). The top 10 is completed by the VW ID.3 (371), Mercedes-Benz EQB (355), Tesla Model 3 (326), BMW X1 (324), and VW ID. Buzz (320).“The increase in November confirms the positive trend we have observed throughout the year. The automotive market is currently very active, so we expect a strong finish to 2025,” said Mads Rørvig, CEO of Mobility Denmark, the Danish trade association for car manufacturers, importers, charging infrastructure operators, financing and leasing companies, as well as car-sharing and car rental services.Rørvig is convinced that the development of electromobility in November represents a logical continuation of the progress made in 2025: “The clarification of the vehicle tax in the budget agreement has removed a key uncertainty and provides consumers with better conditions for their purchasing decisions.
