Weapons, drugs and counterfeit goods seized by Revenue in various operations

The seized cannabis with detector dog Alfie(Image: Revenue)Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €1,276,000 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort over the past week.The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included 60kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €1,175,500, 233g of butane honey oil, with an estimated value of €4,660, 250.2g of synthetic cannabinoids, with an estimated value of over €5,000, and various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €11,650.The various illicit drugs consisted of cannabis oil, cannabis resin, edibles, reefers, various tablets (Alprazolam, Tapentadol and Benzodiazepine), cannabinoid vapes, happy days capsules, lemon x nitro capsules, tramadol hydrochloride.Included in the herbal cannabis seizures was a seizure of 37kg of herbal cannabis worth €740,000 at Dublin Port on Friday, November 28.The seizure was the result of routine profiling and with the assistance of Detector Dog Alfie. The driver of the vehicle, which had arrived from Cherbourg, was arrested by An Garda Síochána. Investigations are ongoing.The other herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dogs Ciara, Sam and Alfie. The parcels originated from the USA, Canada, Netherlands, the UK and France, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.Some of the seized drugs (Image: Revenue)Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €2,625, and representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €1,905, and over 380 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of over €3,515, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €1,950.The alcohol consisted of wine, beer and spirits. The tobacco products were branded Marlboro, NEO, Camel, Silk Cut, Golden Virginia, Pall Mall, Marlboro Red, Red Bull Virginia.409 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €73,050 and 58 weapons were also seized. The 58 weapons consisted of smoke bombs and shotgun cartridges.The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights.The counterfeit goods were Adidas, Nike, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Under Armour, Moncler, Chanel, Lacoste, Ugg, Kappa, Canada Goose, O'Neils, Cartier, Burberry, Prada, Boss, White Fox and Christian Dior.A Revenue spokesperson investigations into all seizures are ongoing.They added: “These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
