Shock as BABY is found outside a fire station - sparking frantic search for the newborn's mum
A newborn baby has been discovered outside a fire station south of Canberra. Police said the infant was found at the South Tuggeranong ACT Fire and Rescue Station in Conder, about 20km south of the city, about 6.30am on Thursday. The baby is understood to have been born in the last 24 hours.It showed no obvious signs of injury and was taken to hospital by paramedics. It remains unknown how long the baby was outside the station before it was found. ACT Police said their sole concern was for the health of the baby's mother. 'If you think a friend or family member may be the mother – please encourage them to seek medical help as soon as possible,' the statement said.'She should attend a hospital, ring an ambulance or contact police.'Anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of people or vehicles at or near the fire station overnight or early this morning should come forward.
