Americans think Trump is lying about Jeffrey Epstein - but astonishing poll reveals how the scandal makes his base more loyal

The majority of Americans think Donald Trump is lying about details of his relationship with disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.A combined 56 percent of voters told the Daily Mail/JL Partners in a new poll this month that they think Trump has not been truthful about his relationship 'at all' or at the very least 'not very much.'Another 24 percent think he's been 'somewhat' truthful and the smallest number of respondents at 21 percent say he's been 'very much' truthful.Despite this, the Epstein of it all does not seem to have a big impact on how Americans view Trump.Of the 1,246 respondents in the online poll conducted November 19-20, a significant 52 percent say that the new revelations in the Epstein files would not have made a difference in how they voted in 2024.Only 17 percent say the emails released by the House Oversight Committee would have impacted their vote, and the same amount said it would have actually made them more likely to have cast their ballot for the current president. The White House did not respond to the Daily Mail's request for comment on the poll results.  Americans think Donald Trump is not being completely truthful about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein – but it doesn't appears to be impacting their support of the president, according to a new poll from the Daily Mail/JL Partners Trump ran in social circles with Epstein and co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell (right) in the 1990s and early 2000s, but insists they didn't have a relationship after 2007 when he was kicked out of his Mar-a-Lago club for being a 'creep'Trump has said that he kicked Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club in 2007, claims that they didn't have any relationship after that point and insists that he never visited his private island where the illegal activity allegedly took place. Speaking with the press earlier this month on Air Force One, he said: 'Jeffrey Epstein and I had a very bad relationship for many years.' Like many New York celebrities and business figures, Trump ran in Epstein's circle and was pictured several times in social settings with him and co-conspirator and long-time girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence. The president says that they stopped associating in the 2000s because Epstein was a 'creep.'On November 12, the House Oversight Committee released thousands of pages of documents that included emails showing Epstein discussing Trump after the alleged 2007 break. It showed a 2011 email from Epstein to Maxwell saying: '[Redacted victim] spent hours at my house with him... I want you to realize that that dog that hasn't barked is trump... he has never once been mentioned.'This was years after Epstein served 13-months for underage sex crimes.  Trump has repeatedly told reporters he never visited Epstein's island and said earlier this month: 'Jeffrey Epstein and I had a very bad relationship for many years'In a 2019 email to author Michael Wolff, Epstein claimed he was never a member of Mar-a-Lago. 'Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever. Of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop,' he wrote.Only 18 percent of respondents say that recent developments have changed their opinion.Meanwhile, 64 percent say it has not impacted how they feel about the Epstein-Trump relationship and the extent of the president's involvement in his crimes.
