Ocean's Eleven star Michael DeLano dead at 84
Actor and singer Michael DeLano has died aged 84.DeLano appeared in the Oceans Eleven movie franchise as well as major TV shows including Charlie's Angels, The Jeffersons, Wonder Woman, and Magnum, P.I.His wife of 28 years Jean DeLano told The Hollywood Reporter that her husband died of a heart attack on October 20 in a Las Vegas hospital. The actor had been a Vegas resident since 1992, and until recently performed at the Dispensary Lounge. He played a casino manager in Ocean’s Eleven (2001) and the sequel Ocean’s Twelve (2004).Born in New York City in 1940, DeLano- whose real name was Michael Ace Del Fatti- began his career as a singer after serving as a paratrooper in the US army. He signed with Swan Records in 1960 and recorded a string of songs under the name Key Larson. Actor and singer Michael DeLano has died aged 84. The star later adopted the stage surname DeLano after seeing a blinking neon sign on a hotel with the name, according to his wife.He started acting in 1970 with stage roles in the likes of Hair, whilst his earliest film credits included 1971's Catlow alongside Yul Brynner and Leonard Nimoy.He played firefighter Sonny Caputo on all 13 episodes of Firehouse in 1974 but his most prolific television role was in Rhoda, on which he portrayed Johnny Venture, a lounge singer who appeared in 11 episodes in the third and fourth series.His character unsuccessfully pursues a romantic relationship with Valerie Harper's title character following her separation from her husband.Delando also played Lou Atkins in Supertrain – which aired for nine episodes in 1979. As well as big screen appearances in Ocean's 11, he also had a role in the 1985 Arnold Schwarzenegger film Commando.He had a brush of fame as a child, receiving fan-mail when he was a regular dancer on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand during filming in Philadelphia, where he was raised.
