US consumer confidence slumps to lowest in seven months
WASHINGTON, United States — US consumer confidence declined sharply this month, reaching its lowest level since April as consumers grew gloomier about business and job market conditions — while also fretting about the outlook ahead. The survey data released Tuesday reflects American households’ concerns with stubbornly high costs of living as the labor market cools.
