The new 32.5MP sensorCanon EOS R6 Mark III’s new 32.5-MO full-frame CMOS sensor is an upgrade from the 24MP sensor in the Mark II model that will remain on the market. The new sensor along with Canon's DIGIC X processor delivers improved image quality and better low-light performance. The system also supports faster burst shooting at up to 40fps electronically and makes possible new video capabilities. The in-body image stabilisation system promises up to 8.5 stops of shake reduction at the centre of the image and up to 7.5 stops around the edges. That’s useful for getting sharp photos using slow shutter speeds in lowlight conditions without a tripod.2. Improved video captureThe EOS R6 Mark III ensures prowess in the world of filmmaking. As well as capturing RAW footage in 7K resolution at up to 60 fps, it can deliver what the firm called beautifully detailed oversampled 4K 60fps clips with cinematic motion. You also get support for 4K/120fps shooting for more dramatic slo-mo results. And you can get creative with full HD 180fps recording.3. AutofocusCanon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus system offers 6097 selectable points on all but the extreme edges of your frame. The subject detection system covers humans (eyes, face, head, and body), animals (dogs, cats, birds, and horses) and vehicles (racing cars or motorbikes, airplanes and trains) and the automatic subject detection on recent Canon cameras has been praised so you’d the R6 Mark III to be even better. This new RF 45mm F1.2 STM lens is the firm’s first f/1.2 aperture non-professional RF lens(Image: Canon)4. Workflow improvementsCanon said its EOS R6 Mark III boasts a range of new and improved features such as dual aspect markers frame for multiple platforms in one shot and a redesigned control tab that enables a more customised shooting experience. The dual card slots support the fast and high-capacity CFexpress Type B cards for the first time along with the still widely used UHS-II SD cards. Quick and secure file transfers should be a given thanks to the built-in wireless connectivity that offers support for the latest 5GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1. The R6 III ships with the higher-output LP-E6P battery that is rated for 620 shots per charge with the LCD and 390 with the EVF.5. Range of lensesFor years, Sony offered the largest range of full frame lenses for mirrorless cameras, but Canon has caught up fast and now offers dozens of highly rated options such as the new RF 45mm F1.2 STM which is the firm’s first f/1.2 aperture non-professional RF lens, weighing under 350g and offering autofocus at an accessible price point. An STM lens like this uses a stepping motor that is designed to provide smooth and quiet focus transitions, making it ideal for shooting video but also for delivering super-sharp still images. The RF 45mm F1.2 STM has a convenient 67mm filter size and a minimum focusing distance of 45cm, and features a durable metal mount, 9-blade aperture, and compatibility with Canon’s focus breathing correction technology.Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.
