Jennifer Lopez has multiple upcoming projects, including an adaptation of The Last Mrs. Parrish. Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis is directing the movie, and filming has been ongoing since September 2025 and has now wrapped up as of November 2025. The Last Mrs. Parrish is an upcoming Netflix Original psychological thriller film directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump), based on the novel of the same name by Liv Constantine. Andrea Berloff and John Gatins wrote the script, with Lisa Rubin also confirmed as part of the writing team.
The film is produced by Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina for Nuyorican Productions, Molly Sims for Something Happy Productions, and Liza Chasin for 3dot Productions. Executive producers include Lynne Constantine, Valerie Constantine, Jack Rapke, Derek Hogue, and Margaret Chernin for 3dot Productions.
What is the plot of The Last Mrs. Parrish?
Netflix has yet to release an official logline for the film. However, the synopsis of the book provides a strong indication of what to expect:
“Amber Patterson is fed up. She’s tired of being a nobody, a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more — a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne — a socialite and philanthropist — and her real estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.
Amber’s envy could eat her alive… if she didn’t have a plan. Amber uses Daphne’s compassion and kindness to insinuate herself into the family’s life — the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her. Before long, Amber is Daphne’s closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters, and growing closer to Jackson. But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything Amber has worked for, and if it’s discovered, her well-laid plan may fall apart.”

Who is in the cast of The Last Mrs. Parrish?
When we first reported on the project, Jennifer Lopez was the only confirmed cast member, who will play the lead role of Daphne Parrish. Lopez is no stranger to Netflix, having starred in several successful originals, including Atlas, The Mother, and the documentary Jennifer Lopez: Halftime.
In addition to The Last Mrs. Parrish, she also has another project in the works with Netflix, a rom-com film titled Office Romance. She was also set to appear in a movie titled The Cipher for the streamer, but that’s currently MIA.
Joining Lopez in the cast are Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) as Jackson Parrish, Isabel May (1883) as Amber Patterson, Pierson Fodé (The Man from Toronto), Debi Mazar (Empire Records), Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story), Renata Friedman (The Patient), and Eduardo Ramos (21 Bridges) as Giorgio.

What is the production status of The Last Mrs. Parrish?

Filming was initially scheduled to begin on May 19, 2025. However, a Production Weekly report in July 2025 stated that filming began on September 9, 2025. Production on the series took place in both New Jersey and New York with Kearny amongst the NJ locations.
It was initially expected to end by November 21, 2025, but finished up a couple of days earlier than expected, with Jennifer Lopez posting a story on Instagram confirming filming had come to an end:

When is The Last Mrs. Parrish coming to Netflix?
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for The Last Mrs. Parrish. With filming underway, the earliest we would expect to see the film on Netflix is late 2026. However, a 2027 release also remains a strong possibility.
