‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Roars to the Top as U.K.-Ireland July Box Office Climbs 3%

The U.K. and Ireland box office delivered a robust performance in July 2025, generating £107.3 million ($142.3 million), a 3% increase on the same month last year (£103.8 million), according to Comscore. The year-to-date tally has now surpassed £639 million ($847 million) after 30 playweeks — running 15% ahead of 2024 and trailing just 1% behind 2023, the benchmark Barbenheimer summer. Universal’s “” dominated the month with a colossal $40.1 million, including a $16.4 million debut — the second-highest opening of the year behind “A Minecraft Movie” ($19.9 million) and ahead of “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy” ($16.3 million). Gareth Edwards’ reboot is now the fourth-highest grosser of 2025 so far, eclipsing “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” ($34.9 million) and trailing “Lilo & Stitch” ($48.8 million). It is already the fifth highest-grossing film in the “Jurassic” franchise, just behind “Jurassic World: Dominion” ($46.5 million). Warner Bros.’ “” soared into second place with $30.5 million, solidifying its place in the year’s Top 10 at No.6. The James Gunn-directed reboot easily outpaced recent superhero offerings such as “Thunderbolts*” ($7.8 million), “Captain America: Brave New World” ($8.5 million), “Venom: The Last Dance” ($5.6 million) and “Joker: Folie à Deux” ($7.4 million). It is now the second-highest-grossing solo Superman film behind only “Man of Steel” ($39.7 million). Marvel’s “” opened with $16.2 million to claim the No.3 spot. Its $10.7 million debut is the sixth-biggest of the year and the best in franchise history, outperforming all prior “Fantastic Four” titles. Its opening compares favorably with recent Marvel entries like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” ($11.7 million) and “Black Widow” ($9.3 million). “ The Movie” raced into fourth with an additional $13.8 million for July, bringing its cume to $26.8 million. The racing drama is now director Joseph Kosinski’s second-biggest U.K. hit behind “Top Gun: Maverick” ($110.9 million) and Brad Pitt’s fourth-highest grosser. “How To Train Your Dragon” added $6.8 million in July, finishing fifth for the month. Its $28.9 million total places it as the second-best performer in the franchise, ahead of “The Hidden World” ($26.7 million) but still behind “How To Train Your Dragon 2” ($33.8 million). Danny Boyle’s “28 Years Later” scared up $5.6 million, ranking sixth in July. With a lifetime total of $20.3 million, the horror sequel is now the third-highest-grossing horror film ever in the U.K. and Boyle’s third-biggest hit, just behind “T2 Trainspotting” ($22.5 million). Universal’s “The Bad Guys 2” entered the chart at No.7 with $4.6 million from just one week on release. Its $2.1 million debut marked the second-highest animated opening this year behind “Dog Man” ($4.2 million). Close behind at No.8 was Paramount’s “Smurfs,” earning $4.5 million after two weeks. The animated musical opened with $1.6 million, nearly matching the 2017 reboot “The Lost Village.” Slasher revival “I Know What You Did Last Summer” came in ninth with $3.1 million. Its $1.2 million opening was the franchise’s biggest to date. Pixar’s “Elio” rounded out the Top 10 with $2.9 million, pushing its total to $6.1 million — nearly five times its opening. The August slate kicks off with “The Naked Gun” (Paramount), starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, and the Philippou brothers’ sophomore feature “Bring Her Back” (Sony). Other highlights include “Freakier Friday” (Disney), “Weapons” (Warner), Celine Song’s “Materialists” (Sony), “Nobody 2” (Universal), Indian tentpole “War 2” (Yash Raj Films), Ari Aster’s “Eddington” (Universal), Stephen King adaptation “Life of Chuck” (Studiocanal), Darren Aronofsky’s “Caught Stealing” (Sony), and Disney’s remake “The Roses.” U.K. and Ireland – Top 10 Titles of July 2025 Date Range: 04/07/2025 to 31/07/2025(Source: Comscore) RankTitleGross £Gross $Cume £Cume $1Jurassic World Rebirth£30,315,283$40,168,314£30,315,283$40,168,3142Superman£23,017,910$30,488,382£23,017,910$30,488,3823Fantastic Four: First Steps, The£12,198,317$16,221,402£12,198,317$16,221,4024F1 The Movie£10,428,667$13,826,227£20,242,882$26,827,4965How To Train Your Dragon£5,144,018$6,816,796£21,758,253$28,840,177628 Years Later£4,203,187$5,570,694£15,312,845$20,292,7587Bad Guys 2, The£3,486,094$4,620,239£3,486,094$4,620,2398Smurfs£3,388,075$4,489,409£3,388,075$4,489,4099I Know What You Did Last Summer£2,327,836$3,086,423£2,327,836$3,086,42310Elio£2,229,476$2,955,683£4,609,404$6,110,244 U.K. and Ireland – Top 10 Titles Year to Date Date Range: 03/01/2025 to 31/07/2025(Source: Comscore) RankTitleGross £Gross $1Minecraft Movie, A£36,020,897$47,731,3472Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy£35,927,087$47,606,2143Lilo & Stitch£36,791,689$48,805,3064Jurassic World Rebirth£30,315,283$40,168,3145Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning£26,325,891$34,888,9966Superman£23,017,910$30,488,3827How To Train Your Dragon£21,758,253$28,840,1778F1 The Movie£20,242,882$26,827,4969Captain America: Brave New World£16,306,226$21,615,35810Thunderbolts*£14,097,013$18,648,083
