"WE ARE SO BACK!": Battlefield 6 Fans Abandon Reservations After Latest Reveal
The future of Battlefield has been surrounded by concerns for years, but the latest reveal for Battlefield 6 has some fans finally leaving their fears behind. Following the negative reception to Battlefield 2042, Battlefield 6 is tasked with restoring faith in the series that has been eroding in recent years. Private playtests and plenty of leaks have made fans generally optimistic on the gameplay front, and EA seems to finally be locking in the excitement thanks to its multiplayer reveal event. A popular Reddit post from MyCrustySock declares, "That's it. I'm gonna say it. WE ARE SO BACK!!!", a sentiment that many commenters seem to agree with. The wording reflects fans' initial hesitation regarding Battlefield 6, as previous games that proved divisive were also often successful at generating hype. Reddit user novodddi seems practically mindblown by the event, writing "holy smokes. what was that" in reply.
Restoring Faith In A Tarnished Reputation
Battlefield's fanbase is still filled with plenty of skeptics, and the top comment on the post is no exception. BigWillB argues that "we need to wait until this out" before offering a verdict, and several comments echo this opinion by holding the line against preorders.

Battlefield 6 Reveals The Return Of Portal With Massive Upgrades From BF2042
Battlefield 2042 might not be the best source of inspiration overall, but an improved take on Portal could be a major asset for Battlefield 6.
The overall mood, however, seems much higher than it's been in Battlefield spaces for years. Thedinobot1989 pushes back against a comparison to 2042's pre-release hype by saying "2042 didn't look anything like this," and most concerns seem to focus on the potential for a buggy, unfinished release. Opinions on the core gameplay are largely positive, and fans also seem reassured by the energy and confidence that the multiplayer reveal event showcased.
Things Are Looking Good So Far
There's still plenty of room for Battlefield 6 to botch its release, and it's hard for me not to think about EA's Battlefront 2, a game that promised fantastic improvements over its predecessor but launched with terrible netcode and aggressive monetization. In 2025, however, opinions on Battlefront 2 have generally swung back to very positive, and the strong foundation that Battlefield 6 is presenting makes it likely that even a rough launch could pave the way for a better future. Although I'm still of the "wait and see" mentality, I'll be surprised if Battlefield 6 isn't a good bit better than BF2042 out of the gate. From dynamic gunplay to large-scale destruction, everything that really matters is looking good so far. Whether it's the game that can truly resurrect the series remains to be seen, but it does look like fans have a reason to start feeling good about Battlefield's future again.
