The Solo Leveling franchise has experienced many highs and lows throughout the year, concluding a successful and widely received second season while also seeing the end of yet another novel series that continued the story in a spin-off. In mid-July, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok would once again close yet another chapter in this incredible series. On July 23rd, the creator behind Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Daul, would announce that the webnovel series he had begun on April 10, 2023, would officially end the saga of Sung Suho’s story. Having come out of nowhere, this surprised fans who were following the sequel and raised many questions as to where the franchise would go next.

Solo Leveling’s World-Building and Unanswered Plotlines May Be Answered in Another Installment
Much to the disappointment of fans, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok and its creator Daul will be stepping back from the franchise, satisfied with the story and the footprint they have left behind. In the light novel’s afterword, Daul would thank Chugong for allowing him to continue the story, and to fans for their patience and devotion to the sequel. “To be honest, I was probably not so much a ‘creator’ as much as a humble ‘guardian’... in an already perfect world,” Daul stated, after expressing his gratitude to everyone who has taken this journey alongside him. And although he mentions that Suho’s story may be ending, the world of Solo Leveling will continue, even without him contributing.
“[Solo Leveling] will live on – in webtoons, anime, games, dramas… The legend of the Shadow Lord, Sung Jinwoo, lives on. And maybe one day, in a different form, it will return again. For now, I am once again just a fan – and, like you, I follow in the footsteps of his shadow.”
While highlighting his step back from contributions to the franchise, Daul also mentions Solo Leveling’s continuance. Could fans have future projects to look forward to that expand on the story and its many layers through another installment?
