Kerry Katona sent private message to Brian McFadden's new wife on their wedding day

Nearly 20 years on from her acrimonious split with Brian McFadden, Kerry Katona has disclosed that she reached out to the Westlife star's new bride, Danielle Parkinson, on their big day earlier this month. Kerry, who is mum to Molly and Lilly-Sue with Brian, shared in her New! Magazine column that she sent a congratulatory text to Danielle on the morning of her wedding - this came shortly after reports suggested the former couple would 'never be mates'. "My ex, Brian McFadden, got married earlier this month and I just want to wish him and his wife Danielle a lifetime of happiness," Kerry wrote in her column. In response to claims that she had 'burned all bridges' with Brian, she retorted: "I find it sad though that as he gets married, everyone writes stories about me." I texted Danielle to wish them a happy day– it looked like a beautiful celebration and I hope they had a ball." While Kerry's two eldest daughters were present at the wedding, she didn't comment on whether they enjoyed the festivities. Alongside Molly and Lilly, Kerry also shares children Heidi and Max with ex-husband Mark Croft, and daughter DJ with her late third husband George Kay. Kerry extending an olive branch to Brian and Danielle follows what has been a rocky history between the exes, with Kerry previously criticising Brian for being a 's**t dad' to their girls. "He was a s**t dad. I'm the one who provides for them," she claimed on a podcast in 2023. These public outbursts have reportedly put a strain on their co-parenting efforts, according to an insider last week. She's got a heart of gold but a big mouth and that has always been her downfall. "Kerry has a bad habit of not thinking before she speaks and it's landed her in hot water with Brian on many occasions. She'll say something publicly that is either outrageous or something she should have kept private between them and it gets her in trouble." Nonetheless, just days prior to these reports, Kerry expressed her desire to mend fences, saying she would 'love' to be friends with him. "I wish Brian and I could have stayed friends." "I would have loved to have gone with her. It would be great to have a better relationship," she said. Brian, on the other hand, seldom mentions Kerry and has been seen to be making a concerted effort to avoid discussing her. In last year's BBC documentary, Boybands Forever. In an awkward moment, the interviewer began asking Brian a question about his ex, starting to say: "Marrying Kerry, you're sort of..." only for Brian to cut in sharply: "I don't want to talk about her, no. Definitely no."
