Inside the petty and very public note war ripping an apartment block apart - and the hilarious way it escalated
An entire apartment block has found itself caught in a hilariously petty war of words over what seemed to be a simple request. It all started when one Reddit user innocently posted a photo from their building's common area, showing a fiery exchange of hand-written notes that have escalated into a full-blown paper battle. The thread, titled 'Got pulled into our neighbour's note war', quickly went viral and an incredible 3800 Reddit users have chimed in expressing their opinions on the debate.Like all big wars, this one began with a detonator - a neighbour allegedly smoking in their apartment, leading to a smell that lingered in the building. The battle has been raging for over a year now.Instead of knocking on their neighbour's door or speaking in person, the disgruntled party opted for the classically passive move: a pointed note.'Please stop smoking here! This is a smoke free apartment. It stinks up the whole building,' the original note read.On the same sheet of lined paper, sellotaped to what seemed to be the building's front door, the accused replied, taking the encounter to an even pettier level. Plus your dogs stink up the whole building as well. We pay rent here to and should have the right to do what we link,' it read.It appears even the neighbours who weren't initially involved got their popcorn and printed their opinions.A fourth reply, written in large burgundy felt pen (and different handwriting again), hilariously took the opportunity to correct a glaring typo – adding an extra 'o' to the word 'to' above.'You lost that right when you signed the lease to a non-smoking complex. Maybe you should have read the lease! So please stop,' it continued.'LMAOOOO fixing the 'too' is top tier pettiness,' one Reddit user commented. In a twist that has Reddit users laughing even more, is the fifth and final note clarifying that the 'stinky dogs' in question, in fact, belong to a completely different neighbour Pictured: The innocent neighbours' dogs in question Reddit users took to the comments section to voice their hilarious opinions on the matter'In the purple pen too - too perfect lol,' another chimed in.In a twist that had users laughing even more, is the fifth and final note clarifying that the 'stinky dogs' in question, in fact, belong to a completely different neighbour who had nothing to do with the original disagreement.'Hi, Dog owners here. We are not involved in this : ( rude.' it read.'We are the only dog owners and know this is how apartment living is like with the smoking. This is our response to being dragged into this fight,' they wrote on Reddit along with an adorable 'Pic of stinky dogs in question.''My favourite part is that cute dog looking surprised like, 'whom is stinky?!?! Surely not !!!' commented on user.'I read it with a ton of attitude like, 'Excuse me, whomst exactly is stinking up the building?''Tbh those dogs do look like a couple of little stinkers.'At this point it is unclear if a building manager has intervened or if any more notes have been added to the pile.
