Ottawa road deaths mount | CTV News Ottawa at 11:30 for October 22, 2026

A deadly week on Ottawa roads has claimed two more lives in separate collisions, pushing the city's traffic death toll to 32 this year. CTV's Katelyn Wilson speaks with Barrhaven resident Amit Singh, who described crossing Greenbank Road as dangerous after a 71-year-old woman was fatally struck by a 19-year-old driver on Wednesday evening; the grieving partner of a 21-year-old motorcyclist killed in a hit-and-run collision is publicly appealing for the driver responsible to come forward. CTV's Stefan Keyes speaks with Thomas Selwyn, who lost his partner Makenzie Alexandra Kilgour when she was struck along West Hunt Club Road near Merivale Road on Oct. 2; and The Ottawa Gymnastics Centre is facing an uncertain future after the city issued notice that its 50-year-old facility on Elmgrove Avenue is nearing the end of its life. CTV's Dylan Dyson speaks with club representatives Kate and Amanda, who question why the municipality permitted $400,000 in recent building upgrades if the former ice arena was slated for demolition.
