An oil tanker reportedly caught fire and exploded after striking a naval mine in the southern Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, as cited by Iranian media. Videos circulating on Telegram appear to show the explosion and an engine-room fire. The incident follows separate IRGC claims that two tankers carrying approximately two million barrels of crude oil each caught fire after hitting mines. Iran alleges the vessels used an unauthorised route, raising fresh concerns over shipping security in the strategic energy corridor.
