A major security scare has unfolded in Saudi Arabia after Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels targeted Aramco facilities in Riyadh with ballistic missiles and drones. Unverified satellite imagery appears to show fires at or near the Aramco site, while NASA’s FIRMS fire-detection data has detected unusual thermal activity in the area. A witness also reported seeing a large plume of smoke and fire near an Aramco facility. The reported attack comes amid escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis and growing disruption to regional oil routes linked to the Strait of Hormuz.
