Donald Trump delivered a blistering retrospective on the Iraq War as the last U.S. troops completed their withdrawal from Iraq, invoking the enormous human cost of the conflict and arguing that Washington had learned from what he called the “stupidity” of its post-invasion decisions.
Trump said roughly 4,500 American service members were killed and more than 31,000 wounded during the Iraq War. Official U.S. veterans data lists 4,507 killed and 32,292 wounded in the 2003–2011 conflict, putting Trump’s figures broadly in line with the historical toll.
