The fake quiet is over. The United States struck inside Iran after CENTCOM identified Revolutionary Guards launchers on Larak Island preparing to fire rockets designed to place naval mines back into international shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz. American forces struck the launchers before the plan could be carried out.
MISSILE BARRAGE: Iran responded by firing ballistic missiles toward American bases in Jordan, missiles toward American ships in the Strait of Hormuz, and drones toward pro-American targets in Iraq. Jordan confirmed that eight ballistic missiles were intercepted over its territory, while alarms and explosions were also reported in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait.
An initial report claims that an American destroyer may have been directly hit by an Iranian missile in the Strait of Hormuz. That report has not yet been officially confirmed. Still, the message from Tehran is clear: the Revolutionary Guards are trying to break the American blockade and show that they can still threaten U.S. forces and Gulf states.
ECONOMIC WAR: The Trump administration is also tightening the financial noose around Iran. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Operation Economic Outcast, while the U.S. Treasury identified five Banque Misr branches in the United Arab Emirates that it says transferred about $1.8 billion for companies connected to Iranian black banking. Washington is threatening to cut those branches off from the American dollar system.
LONG WAR PREP: The United States has positioned the USS George Washington in the Arabian Sea, replacing the USS Abraham Lincoln and keeping one of America’s strongest air and naval platforms within striking distance of Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. With F-35C aircraft, F/A-18 fighter jets, electronic warfare aircraft, early-warning systems, and thousands of crew members on board, the message is clear: the U.S. is prepared to stay.
NUCLEAR THREAT: Iran is now openly treating nuclear weapons as the regime’s ultimate “insurance policy.” While the media conversation focuses on Hormuz, missiles, and oil prices, Israel is warning that Iran’s nuclear program remains the central existential threat. Tehran is trying to move quickly toward an atomic bomb while using regional escalation to survive pressure.
Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan are set to discuss security cooperation as the Gulf watches the confrontation intensify. Oil prices are rising, Kuwait is preparing for possible attacks on oil infrastructure, and the Revolutionary Guards are being squeezed economically while trying to prove they can still strike across the region.
