The number of outbreaks in Austria has stayed close to the same level in 2025 but they caused more illnesses than the year before, according to recently released statistics.
In 2025, 33 foodborne outbreaks were reported, one fewer than in 2024. However, 354 people were sickened in them compared to 194 people in 2024. Outbreaks involved between two and 86 people.
