One of the actors of Star Wars: Starfighter has revealed his deep connection to the galaxy far, far away.
Aaron Pierre revealed in an interview with GQ that his relationship with the Star Wars franchise began nearly three decades ago. The actor explained how he was only five years old when he first watched Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace in theaters with his parents in 1999. And the experience was mind-blowing.
Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace ended up having a lasting impact on the actor. Pierre remembers being overwhelmed (in a good way) by the scale of the movie and the feeling that he was actually being transported into the universe. The movie was so memorable that he can still remember small details about that day, including the bus he and his family took to go home after.
Now, 27 years later, Pierre is experiencing the franchise from an entirely different perspective when he joined the cast of Star Wars: Starfighter. The actor explained how special and surreal it was to actually be a part of a franchise that had been so important to him since childhood.
The role is a full circle moment for Pierre. In 1999, he was a five-year-old who loved the Star Wars universe. And, three decades later, the actor is now a cast member in another chapter of the franchise that he has loved so much throughout his life.
Star Wars: Starfighter is an upcoming standalone live-action film set within the Star Wars universe. Directed by Shawn Levy, the movie takes place five years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker and follows a pilot who must protect a boy from dangerous enemies.
The film will explore a section of the Star Wars timeline that has never been seen before. Levy has described the installment as an original, self-contained project instead of a continuation of an existing storyline. It will focus on new characters instead of relying on established figures from the franchise.
Pierre and his co-stars' roles in Star Wars: Starfighter are all currently undisclosed. The upcoming science fiction film will feature an impressive lineup. The cast consists of Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams.
