Small, versatile and durable tools are every homeowners dream and I've just found one that needs a place in my toolkit immediately: Martha Stewarts hand weeding tool, available from QVC.
Martha says it is her 'favorite weeding tool', and that she has one 'in every garden bag', and at $24 it's very easy to see why. It's a Japanese tool that you can use not only to scrape weeds from beds and gravel, it's also a cultivator and can be used to dig the soil.
It's ideal for small yards with little storage space. It's also top rated by QVC customers, too, who are impressed with its versatility. 'It easily breaks up hardened soil and cuts right down to the roots of the weeds,' says one review.

There are lots of different types of weeders on the market, but a versatile hand weeder such as this Martha Stewart tool will be a one-time purchase.
With a solid wooden handle, it is made to last. The blade is one piece, is ultra sharp and allows you to tackle a multitude of tasks with precision.
Martha affirms it's been her 'favorite forever' tool, and can even dig out weeds with long tap roots.
Despite being such a useful tool, in my experience it is still quite unusual to see this in homes, making it a good idea for a gardening gift for a friend or family member.
Shoppers give this tool a 4.8 out of 5-star rating on QVC.com, with one noting: 'This tool replaces so many others in the garden. Weeding, chopping roots, grooming soil and mulch, planting bulbs and seedlings... This does it all.'

Several of the reviews note how sharp the blade is, and to keep it covered when not in use. The Tourbon tool belt, available from Amazon, which I've used for years, is a good place to store sharp tools if you don't have a sheath to cover the blade.

You will likely be working down on the ground to use this tool, which could put strain on the back and knees. A foam garden kneeler, such as this one from Target, will help to protect your joints and make the jobs much more comfortable.
