Ryanair has shared its Seat Policy - and some passengers may not be able to sit in the emergency exit row. And it is all down to "safety reasons".
Listing six groups of people that can sit in this row, Ryanair confirms: "No, for safety reasons" not everyone can sit in an emergency exit row. It explains: "You can only sit in an emergency exit seat if you are:
16 years or olderWilling and able to help in the event of an emergencyTravelling without an infant (this also applies to pax with seats leading to emergency exit rows)Do not require airport assistance of any kindDo not require a seat belt extenderHave no extra comfort seat booked
It adds: "Only non-disabled adults are permitted to sit at emergency seat rows as you may be called upon to assist crew members in the unlikely event of an emergency evacuation."
What is Ryanair’s seat policy?
Ryanair lets passengers pay a variable fee to reserve a seat and choose where they sit, or select a free random seat assignment when they check in online between 24 and 2 hours before departure. For customers who have reserved seats, online check-in opens up to 60 days in advance.
The airline adds: "Ryanair offers the option to purchase reserved seats or free seats, which are assigned randomly during check-in. Passengers who choose ‘random seat allocation’ can check in between 24 hours and 2 hours before the flight departure time.
"If you purchase a seat at the time of booking, during check-in, or at any point leading-up to your flight, you can choose where to sit and that seat will be reserved for you. Online check-in opens 60 days before the scheduled departure time if you have purchased an allocated seat."
Reserved seat prices vary depending on the seat location you choose on the aircraft.
What is random seat allocation?
If you don’t pay to reserve a seat, Ryanair will allocate one to you for free at check-in, which opens 24 hours before departure and closes 2 hours before departure.
What is Ryanair’s Family Seat Policy?
The airline confirms: "For safety reasons, children aged between 2 and 11 years must sit next to an accompanying adult, and infants (8 days to 23 months inclusive) must sit on an accompanying adult's lap. Families may choose either to reserve seats or select free random allocation."
If families opt to reserve seats, children must be seated next to the adult’s reserved seat(s). In this case, online check-in will open 60 days before departure.
If random allocation is selected, children will be seated next to an accompanying adult on the same reservation for free. Other adults and teens on the booking may be allocated seats separately.
