Mid Antrim 150: Michael Dunlop wins five times on return to road race
Michael Dunlop won five races at the Mid Antrim 150 on his return to the national road race after a 17-year absence.Dunlop, a 36-time winner at the Isle of Man TT, had not raced since 2009 at Mid Antrim, which was returning to the road racing calendar this year.The 37-year-old opened Saturday by dominating the non-championship Supersport race, which had been rescheduled from Friday evening at the Clough Circuit. Dunlop then won the Open Superbike race on his MD Racing BMW ahead of Ryan Whitehall and Keven Keyes.On his Scars Racing Ducati, Dunlop then doubled up in the Supersport class then swiftly added added a fourth victory of the day by winning the 125cc/Moto3 race in County Antrim.Dunlop rounded out his five-star performance by dominating the Grand Final Superbike race by just under 30 seconds ahead of Keyes and Whitehall.It is a third four-timer of the season for Dunlop after he won four races at the Cookstown 100 in April and Tandragee 100 in June.Barry Davidson won the Junior 350 and Senior 500 Classics, while there was success for Neil Kernohan in the Supertwin class.Whitehall picked up a victory in the Classic Supersport encounter, while Ross Moore won the non-championship Senior Support race and lightweight Supersport honours went to Joe Loughlin.
