New BYD Ti7 seven-seat plug-in hybrid to arrive this year for £48k
Those motors should be able to propel the Ti7 from 0-62mph in just 4.8sec – much speedier than the Defender PHEV, and even quicker than the XC90's 5.4sec time.
Inside, the Ti7 gets a large 15.6in central infotainment touchscreen alongside a 10.25in digital driver's display, as well as a panoramic sunroof, a rear passenger touchscreen and a head-up display. There's three rows of seats inside, with space for seven occupants.Full UK specifications have yet to be announced, but all versions should get 20in alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, rear privacy glass and a panoramic glass roof.Boot space measures at 970 litres with the third row of seats folded down, placing the Ti7 among the cars with the biggest boots on the market. Indeed, it's much larger than what both the Defender 110 and XC90 offer.Recently, a version of the Ti7 with 'Flash charging' was unveiled in China, with the ability to charge at speeds of up to 1500kW with BYD's latest tech – but that one is all-electric and is not expected to make it to the UK.The new BYD Ti7 will arrive in January next year, and it's priced very competitively compared with rivals, at £47,995.
