A government powerful enough to feed you is powerful enough to starve you. Private stores succeed or fail by serving customers. Losses fall on the owners, not the taxpayers. Without the real pressure of profit and loss, government run stores have zero reason to cut waste, keep shelves full, control payroll, or actually care what shoppers want, because any shortfall just gets covered by more of our tax money.
