Elon Musk outlined accelerated timelines for Artificial Intelligence and robots during a July 23 interview, citing potential near-term surpassing of human intelligence and broad economic implications.In a sit-down with The Economist editor-in-chief Zanny Minton Beddoes, Elon Musk said AI might exceed the sum of human intelligence in around five years. He argued that Artificial Intelligence and robots could bring "an age of amazing abundance," while noting that a "massive" war could derail it. He added he cannot see a way to stop AI's momentum and suggested that, even with a "stop button," it might not be pressed. Asked about control over robots and AI in 10 years, he said it is unlikely that humans will no longer be in control.
