Canada goalkeeper Owen Goodman loaned from Crystal Palace to Dundee FC
More learning opportunities on the horizon for Canada goalkeeper Owen Goodman.
The CanMNT No. 3 will be joining Scottish Premiership side Dundee FC on a season-long loan, the club announced in a press release on Saturday. The move will be Goodman’s fifth loan switch — and first outside England — since signing a first-team contract with the Premier League’s Crystal Palace in 2022.
“It’s a big league, the Scottish Premiership. There’s some big games. When Dundee came in, it was just something I had to go for,” the club quoted Goodman in the release.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper served as the CanMNT’s third-choice option at the 2026 World Cup, less than a year after earning his first Canada call-up after a lengthy citizenship and FIFA eligibility battle.
Goodman has been tapped by head coach Jesse Marsch as a future number one for Les Rouges once current tandem Maxime Crépeau and Dayne St. Clair hang up their gloves. Other goalkeepers, including Brighton’s Tom McGill, could also be in the picture — but Goodman, 4 years younger than McGill, will have a leg up in that regard.
Guarding the goal for Dundee FC will pose another solid test for Goodman, who found his feet at midtable EFL League One side Barnsley, making 22 appearances in the latter half of last season, after a difficult start with promotion challengers Huddersfield.
Those moves followed in line after stints with relegation-threatened Colchester in 2023-24, and promotion challengers AFC Wimbledon in 2024-25, marking a steady progression up the ladder.
Goodman will have a good shot of starting for The Dees, with last season’s backup Kieran O’Hara and Dundee FC’s own loan returnee Harrison Sharp the only other goalkeepers contracted to the club.
Dundee FC improved on a 10th-place result two seasons ago, finishing two spots higher in 2025-26. Manager Steven Pressley’s side will hope to continue that upwards trajectory — and beat local rivals Dundee United, who finished three points above them last season.
