A teenager has been rushed to hospital following an alleged stabbing at a high school.
A 15-year-old boy was left with abdominal wounds at Trinity Bay State High in Cairns, Far North Queensland, at midday on Monday.
The boy was rushed to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition.
Another 15-year-old boy left the school on foot.
Queensland Police found the teenager 30 minutes later near Kanimbla and took him into custody.
He is currently assisting officers with their inquiries.
Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Queensland education department told the ABC it was aware of a 'serious incident that required emergency services' to attend a high school.

'The school is communicating with impacted students and families, and counselling and support is in place for all students and staff who require it,' the department spokesman said.
The department couldn't share any further details due to the ongoing police investigation.
