Police have arrested 14 people for allegedly attacking a police constable and vandalising his private car after one of the accused's motorcycles reportedly brushed against the vehicle while the group was performing dangerous stunts and riding recklessly on Nagpur’s Mankapur Ring Road.
The assault, which took place on the night of June 28, was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, providing investigators with crucial evidence that helped identify and apprehend the accused.
According to police, the injured officer, identified as 35-year-old Kunal Singh, was travelling towards Mankapur Square in his private car along with a woman when the incident unfolded.
A group of young men riding seven to eight motorcycles was allegedly speeding, performing stunts and weaving through traffic in a rash manner.
During this time, one of the motorcycles is said to have grazed a portion of Singh's car. The seemingly minor contact soon escalated into a violent confrontation.
Police said the bikers intercepted the officer's vehicle, surrounded it by parking their motorcycles in front of his car, blocked his way and prevented him from leaving the spot.
The accused allegedly began abusing the officer before launching a physical assault. They also extensively damaged the vehicle during the attack.
Singh sustained injuries in the assault and was later rushed to a private hospital with the help of local residents. He is currently undergoing treatment.

As the confrontation intensifies, the group appears to surround the car from different sides while some individuals are seen rushing towards the driver.
The footage also records the chaos that follows, with people assembling at the scene as the assault continues.
The visuals played a significant role in helping investigators reconstruct the incident and identify those involved.
The incident sent shockwaves through the police department, prompting an immediate investigation. Officers examined the CCTV footage alongside other technical evidence to trace the suspects.
14 ACCUSED IDENTIFIED, ARRESTEDActing swiftly, the Mankapur police arrested 14 accused in connection with the case.
Those held were identified as Harsh Pawar, Gaurav Dhirde, Sanyam Ganeshpuri, Yash Parteki, Satyam Shirke, Premraj Dhakate, Akash Bokade, Nitin Gokhale, Vicky Telghare, Bhumi Dev, Sagar Bokade, Ganesh Uike, Pritam Modekar and Tikaram Barapatre.
Police said some of the arrested individuals have previous criminal records. During the operation, officers also seized five two-wheelers and recovered property collectively valued at around Rs 5.60 lakh.
Speaking about the case, Haresh Kalsekar, Senior Inspector, said the accused were identified with the help of CCTV footage and other technical evidence before being taken into custody.
The arrests have brought immediate action in a case that has raised concerns over reckless biking and mob violence on city roads.
With the accused now in custody and key evidence secured, police are expected to continue their investigation, including verifying the role of each individual and pursuing further legal action based on the findings.
