Disgruntled 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk uses social media to rip into John Lynch, Kyle Shanahan
Brandon Aiyuk continued his online rampage against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, taking shots at the team and his now former agent as the disgruntled wide receiver keeps publicly pleading for his release.
Aiyuk posted a YouTube video and an Instagram post in which the AWOL star ripped the 49ers and their general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan while claiming Ryan Williams, his former agent, “really started this whole (expletive).”
“Take me off yo bum a—team,” Aiyuk wrote to the 49ers on an expletive-laden Instagram post.
“We is not cool,” Aiyuk said in the video about the team that drafted him in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. “We won’t be cool, and I will never be stepping in that building” unless it’s while playing for the Washington Commanders, he said.
Aiyuk is on the reserve/left squad while he rehabilitates a knee injury that sidelined him for the entire 2025 season, reiterated his desire to be released so he can join the Commanders. Aiyuk is a close friend of Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels, a former Arizona State teammate.
In his online rants, Aiyuk said Williams and Lynch were “weirdos” and “creepy predators,” suggesting Williams – who Aiyuk said he fired – was trying to reach out to Aiyuk’s wife and that Lynch showed up uninvited to his house recently.
“The same general manager that tried to run me down and come apologize for his head coach,” Aiyuk said, “because his head coach got a temperament of a (expletive) toddler and was speaking out the side of his (expletive) mouth to me.”
Aiyuk said Williams is a friend of Lynch’s and that the two also have a business relationship. Aiyuk said the relationship between GM and agent played a role in his issues.
If Aiyuk shows up when 49er training camp begins on July 25, it could put pressure on the team to make a decision on his status. Unless Aiyuk reports, the 49ers can keep him on the reserve list without him counting to the salary cap or the roster limits.
