Is an AI teacher really what British children need?
The UK government has announced it will roll out AI tutors to 450,000 people currently on free school meals to close the so-called attainment gap — and Russell Brand, who was himself on free school meals, has a very specific response. What was needed was not an AI teacher but healthier locally grown food, and the fact that neither of those things will ever happen under the current system is not an accident but a direct consequence of the principal problem Russell identifies in every episode: centralization. The announcement was paired with an AI jobs finder for the unemployed, and Russell asks whether anyone alive actually believes a single word of it.
