On the 225th anniversary of the tourbillon patent, we sit down with Breguet CEO Gregory Kissling to discuss the latest version of the Tourbillon 7047, the brand’s enduring appeal, and the future of one of watchmaking’s most historic names. Before taking the helm at Breguet on October 1st, 2024, Kissling served as Vice President of Product at Omega. Having known him for many years and collaborated on memorable projects such as the Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday editions of 2017 and 2018, we were especially excited to see him take on the role of CEO at Breguet.

Breguet had already made waves last year during its 250th-anniversary celebrations, unveiling a series of new watches that signaled a clear direction for the brand. Among them, the Expérimentale 1 stood out as a particular highlight. In this episode of Fratello Talks, Kissling walks us through the newest Breguet Tradition Tourbillon 7047, reflects on the company’s remarkable history, and shares his vision for its future. Fratello Talks: Breguet’s CEO On The New Tradition 7047, 225 Years Of The Tourbillon, And The Brand’s Future

On June 26th, Breguet celebrates the 225th anniversary of the tourbillon mechanism with the introduction of a new Tradition Tourbillon 7047 in platinum. The watch combines a tourbillon with a fusée-and-chain transmission. This mechanism delivers a constant force to the regulating organ and helps maintain stable accuracy and balance-wheel amplitude.

In this episode, Gregory Kissling explains the thinking behind the latest version of the Tradition Tourbillon 7047 and shares why the team made certain decisions during its development. Kissling offers insight into the creation of this anniversary piece. He also talks about other Breguet watches that commemorate the 225th anniversary of the tourbillon’s invention. Additionally, Kissling explains the Poinçon Breguet that they introduced last year. This hallmark warrants fantastic accuracy, antimagnetism, and acoustic performance (for musical watches). The Poinçon Breguet also warrants that all watch parts are made in Switzerland.
