“Doing all the formalities required and formally intimating them about the Jantar Mantar protest on June 20th. I have submitted the entire plan, the number of volunteers required and every other formality as required by the police,” Das said in a video message. The group now expects permission for the demonstration.

“We have offered a full cooperation. We have assured them like every other protest that we have had nationwide this protest too will be a peaceful protest,” he said.

According to him, people from several states are expected to join the demonstration, with the main demand being the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

“We are hopeful that the Delhi police sees this as the just cause that it is… There is no reason why the Delhi police would deny us our right to descend peacefully at Jantar Mantar,” he added, ending with “Delhi Chalo.”

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke also shared the video and said, “Please note.”

CJP protests across cities

The CJP has previously organised protests in several cities including Amritsar, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Lucknow. The latest phase of its campaign ended in Jaipur, where Dipke was assaulted.

Assault on Abhijeet Dipke

He was being carried on supporters’ shoulders when a section of the crowd pulled at his scarf, slapped him, and tried to pull him down. Two accused were later detained and released by police, after which they were reportedly garlanded by supporters outside the police station amid slogans like “Inquilab Zindabad” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai.”

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka also posted images of the accused on social media, alleging they were “BJP ke gunde”.

Following the incident, Dipke said he would continue his campaign despite the attack.

“You call me Pakistani, you call those gathered here Pakistani… But we will not be intimidated by such tactics. We will continue to raise our voice for the youth,” he told HT.

“I was assaulted while entering the protest site. No matter how many attacks take place, I will not raise my hand against anyone. Cowards resort to violence. I will not remain silent.”

CJP movement

The CJP says its movement is expanding across India and has warned of further protests in Delhi if its demands are not met. The group has raised issues including alleged examination irregularities, including NEET paper leak case and CBSE OSM issues.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk has also been associated with similar protest spaces, while actor Prakash Raj joined supporters at a rally in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The group says its June 20 protest at Jantar Mantar will be peaceful and focused on a single demand: accountability from the government.
