Royal Family Leave Buckingham Palace for Trooping the Colour 2026

King Charles, Queen Camilla and members of the Royal Family leave Buckingham Palace for Trooping the Colour 2026 and the King’s official birthday celebrations. Crowds gathered along The Mall to watch the royal carriage procession travel towards Horse Guards Parade, with the King and Queen surrounded by a Sovereign’s Escort from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. Riding behind them were Prince William, Princess Anne and Prince Edward in their roles as royal colonels. The Princess of Wales travelled with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis before taking her place alongside the King and Queen at Horse Guards Parade. Charles wore the uniform of the Grenadier Guards, whose King’s Colour was trooped during this year’s ceremony. Queen Camilla also honoured the regiment in a red guards-inspired dress, while Catherine attended in her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards. More than 1,000 guardsmen took part in the parade, which combined precision marching, military music and centuries of royal tradition in the heart of London. Trooping the Colour has marked the sovereign’s official birthday since the 18th century, although King Charles’s actual birthday falls on November 14.
