Man dies following incident at house in Leitrim as Garda investigation begins
Gardai have launched an investigation following the death of a man after an incident at a house in County Leitrim on Thursday night.Officers attached to the Sligo-Leitrim Crime Functional Area are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death, which occurred at a residential property in Arderry on Thursday, June 11.Shortly after 9pm, Gardai and emergency services responded to reports of an incident at the property, where a man in his 40s was discovered unresponsive.Emergency personnel treated the man at the scene, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.In a statement, An Garda Siochana confirmed that a man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in County Leitrim.“A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the inquiry, while both the local Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified,” the statement said.“The body of the deceased remains at the scene, which has been preserved for a forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.”Gardai said investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.
